PLAN ZONING OF RESIDENT DISTRICT~ <Our Past Index>


In an article published in the Wednesday, December 14, 1932 issue of the Port Isabel Pilot reported on a new building zoning committee. The article reads as follows:

At a special session of the city commission in the city hall last Thursday morning, a resolution was presented by Commissioner S.C. Glass, recommending the appointment of a commission to be known as a zoning commission.

The purpose of this resolution being to establish boundaries of the various original districts in the city of Port Isabel with a view of establishing regulations and restrictions pertaining to future building. This as well as comprehensive plans to lessen congestion in the streets, to secure safety from fire and other hazards pertaining to the welfare of the community.
