CITY LIMIT SIGNS PLACED IN BAY~ <Our Past Index>

In an article published in the Wednesday, December 27, 1933 issue of the Port Isabel Pilot featured this story about placing city limit markers in the bay. The article reads as follows:

Signs have been placed in the waters of Laguna Madre, adjacent to Port Isabel, one mile from the shore line, designating the city limits. These signs, supplied by the city and erected by Deputy Game Fish and Oyster Commissioner, Charley Kenedy, are for the convenience of commercial fishermen. The state laws forbid using nets within one mile of any incorporated town.

The city also proposes to place “No Speeding” warnings in both the south and Shary Yacht Club channels, these because of the wave wash on the channel banks created by speeding motor boats.
